Biokinetics
Bio = Life
Kinetic = relating to or resulting from motion
Biokinetics is movement-based therapy, where selected exercises are prescribed for injury rehabilitation, chronic disease management, enhancement of physical health and performance.
A biokineticist completes the clinical team of practitioners, typically working in the final-phase of a patient's rehabilitation journey. The scope of biokinetics addresses the functional demands for safe participation in a client's desired activities, as well as environmental factors that contribute to re-injury or disease.
The first consultation typically involves:
-
Discussing your medical history, the presenting problem and physical demands of your daily life.
-
A physical assessment of the affected area and functional movement, as it relates to performing your daily activities.
-
A prescribed treatment plan which considers the appropriate timeline, your environment, lifestyle and functional goals.
-
Comfortable exercise clothes are required for ease of movement.
